Spring Musical

 The kids had their school Spring Musical last week. They were super cute and sang really well.

 

Zac's boots were the hit of the evening. He wanted to wear them with his pants tucked in because "they're more comfortable that way." His place on the stage had him on the edge so you could see them really well. And if that wasn't enough, the camerman zoomed in at one point and those boots took up the entire big screens for a few seconds. As we walked through the reception following the musical, Zachary was a super star. Everyone was commenting! He said he was embarrassed that everyone was talking about him. So cute.

 

Art 101

 The kids took an art class. Specifically a canvas painting class. They loved it and were both surprisingly very good at the painting process as instructed. The teacher had an example and also painted a new one step-by-step while talking about each part. I really enjoyed watching them take it so seriously and get so excited about their work!

Me & the kids had a picnic sitting outside at picnic tables at the Publix near our house. Watching the people coming & going spurred on some very entertaining & interesting conversation. Here are some of the kids' questions. One of my big things as a mother is that I answer my kids' questions in the most truthful way possible. I don't make things up or create fantasy ideas. I don't give them quick half-truth answers nor do I give them abstract explanations they can't possibly understand. So, their questions were intriguing, but my answers were thought-provoking (for me!) as well.

Allie: (pointing at a boy with Downs syndrome) "Mommy why does that boy look weird?"
Zac: (to add to Allie's question) "Yea, it's like he didn't grow all the way."


Zac: "Mommy, why is that mommy smoking with her little boy?"


Zac: "How do those dogs know where to take the blind person?"


Allie: "Mommy why are some people fat?"


Zac: "Why do some people say hi but some people don't?"


Allie: (about the car driving by) "Why can we hear their music?"


Zac: "How come when I tell God I love him, he doesn't say it back to me?" (That's the deepest question he has ever asked me. It took me a few minutes to really give him a solid answer.)


Zac: "Why do some people wear shirts that show their belly?"


Zac: "How many shoes are in the world?" (No lie, he asked that exact question. So I tried to give him a point of reference by us counting the shoes as people walked by. I think he realized that his guess of 10,000 shoes worldwide was a little short.)
