Zachary spun a web

Yes, he did. He found a spool of thread (because, you know, I sew...!), and started walking around the dining room furniture spinning a web. This was a really great idea...until Allie came in the room. As you might imagine, that was disastrous. She got all tangled up, tripped a few times, then started screaming when she realized she couldn't get out. I actually had to cut a few strands of the web to get her out!
The spider web really was a very cool idea, though.

We all scream for...

ICE CREAM!! More summer fun with ice cream cones. The kids really enjoyed these.

...and Allie enjoyed feeding Zachary hers.

Summa-time Fun

Hard to believe it is already late August! The kids have had a great summer. Here are some fun pictures from last week. The ones of Zachary are neat. He's found a new art medium and spent an entire afternoon drawing in the driveway & rinsing the colors down. I SO enjoy watching him be creative!

And my little Allie girl enjoying the sprinkler:

Pretty Little Girl

I love this little red dress on Allie. She had some cute little white shoes, but has recently decided that she doesn't wear shoes. These pictures turned out super cute!

Love it

Aunt Jen & Uncle Dan had their 20-week ultrasound yesterday! Since Grammy was in Atlanta doing some work for her store, she decided to drive over to Charlotte to see the ultrasound. I couldn't go because I teach on Thursday nights, but I thought Zachary would enjoy a little road trip & seeing JenDan. SO, Zachary got to tag along AND see his very first cousin!!
From what I hear, Zachary immediately recognized "the baby" on the ultrasound screen and was intrigued by the little features & body parts. Apparently, his fresh perspective provided some comedic entertainment. Especially when he said, "I was in this show when I was a baby!"

Busted Lip

In one of the many daily games of chase, Allie fell & busted her top lip. She'd already had a scraped nose. Poor girl!

Reading & Writing

Zachary surprised me the other day with some mad academic skills we didn't know he had. First, he can write his letters! In this first picture, not only was he able to write the letter, but we made the sound for each letter in the word and then he figured out which sound was missing. I was shocked he was able to do this! So proud of him!!

This next activity was neat too. He figured out which letter was the first letter of the word in the picture. On the last page of this activity, he said, "Mommy, where are some more of these?"

Pizza!

Allie says, "peessa!" and she LOVES LOVES to eat pizza. Both kids like to help me make pizza. They are pretty good at eating the toppings and begging for more cheese.

I took a few more cute pictures of them when we were done. My camera wasn't functioning properly and I'm so mad that the last one is out of focus! SO cute!

Allie & Pasta

Allie loves pasta. While she's officially settled into a "picky eater" phase, she will always eat pasta. And lots of it! Whenever I say, "Allie, time to eat!" She runs into the kitchen saying, "mmmmmmmm!" She's also in the I-don't-want-help-I-can-do-it-myself phase. Since picking up food is easier for her than a fork, we just let her do it.

Partial Truths

Zachary has incorporated a new technique for avoiding trouble. I don't know where he comes up with this stuff!

Mommy: "Zach, did you rip this book?"
Zachary: "Mommy, here's a whole bunch of books that I didn't rip."

Mommy: "Zach, did you knock that letter off the wall?"
Zachary: "Mommy, look at all the other letters that are still on the wall."

More Astute-ness

Zachary: "Mommy, when I run, my shirt gets all sweaty. But not when I walk."

Zach & the hats

Zachary loves hats. The other day I was cleaning out Allie's closet & putting away all things baby (sad face), and he found a stash of baby hats. Only a few of them fit either kid, but they played with hats on all day. I love it!!
The hat Zachary's wearing in this picture is a newborn hat with bunny ears. It was his favorite. And of course, Panda's wearing a hat.

Farmer's Market

I took the kids to a local Farmer's Market on Saturday. It was really fun!! Each of them got a ziploc bag with "pennies" ($2.00 worth of coins) and they picked out what they wanted to buy. Allie loved the flowers, so that's what she got. I took these pictures of them playing with the flowers. The market was located in an old historic town square. The buildings were neat & this fountain was really pretty. I enjoyed the morning and I love these pictures!
