Little White Lie?

Zachary: "Mommy, how long does it take to get to the north pole?"

Mommy: "Oh it takes a very long time. It is all the way at the top of the world. See, (pointing at the map) we are here in Georgia, right above Florida and the North Pole is all the way up here."

Zachary: "But how long would it take for us to get there?"

Mommy: "A few days, buddy. It's a long way."

Zachary: "No, that's not right, Mommy. Uncle Dan told me he went to the north pole the other day when he was getting donuts....and that didn't take very long."

Pottery with Mimi

We painted pottery with Mimi on Saturday. The kids picked out their own pieces and painted them really well. It was a lot of fun!!

Thanksgiving 2010

Fall Pictures

My friend Christin took these pictures of the kids last week. I love them! The dress Allie is wearing was handmade by my grandmother. Allie especially loves to twirl around & around in it! My favorite picture of Zachary is the second picture below. My favorite of Allie is the tenth below. They are all really sweet though.

Bowling!

We took the kids bowling for the very first time on Saturday. Everyone had a lot of fun! Zachary really got the hang of it and he actually legitimately beat me. (yikes!)

Allie would show us how many pins she knocked over every time. So cute! And I love the picture below because you can see Zachary cheering for her while she shows him she knocked down 5 pins. Love their little friendship!

Thanksgiving Festivities

The kids had their Charlie Brown Thanksgiving Feasts at school today, which they loved! They brought home lots of festive projects they'd completed this week. Like their headdresses:

I'd like to title this picture "Lost in Translation" because it appears when Allie's teacher said, "What are your grandparent's names?" Allie's answer was misunderstood. But it's nice to know she's also thankful for our only surviving fish, Pica.

I may title this picture "Things moms-not-like-me do in their free time," because Allie brought home this very cute, very creative, very clever Thanksgiving treat in a nice bag with a nice handmade tag from a friend in her class. Wow, I am very impressed.

The kids had fun dismantling it and eating all that sugar...

I am now officially super excited to start the holidays!!!

Just the facts, please

Zachary's teacher, Ms. Miller told me this story today. She was giggling the whole time she's telling me the story.

Zachary: "Ms. Miller, I have to go poop."

Ms. Miller: "Ok, let's go to the bathroom."

Zachary comes out very quickly, clearly not enough time to have gone potty.

Ms. Miller: "Zachary, did you go potty? That was really quick."

Zachary: "No."

Ms. Miller: "Well, why not? If you need to go, just go."

Zachary: "I don't need to go. It was just a big toot."

While she was sleeping

Todd went to check on Allie the other day after we'd put her down for her nap. He didn't see her in the bed, so he started walking around her room and couldn't find her. It was super quiet and he thought maybe she'd snuck out of her room.
Nope.
She was sound asleep under her bed, with blankie & her baby.

We started to wake her up and she was embarrassed!

Such a cutie!

Zachary: "Mommy, why are you not nice today?"

Mommy: "Well, I've had to tell you several times to put your shoes on, and you are not listening well today."

Zachary: "Mommy, that's because I just want to do whatever I want, all the time, by myself."

Cousin Ari

We enjoyed hanging out with baby Ari this weekend. She's such a cutie. Zachary especially liked his time with her. On Sunday night, he told me he wanted to "talk about the things" he likes about her. So we did. He even numbered them, himself.
Zachary's top 5 favorite things about cousin Ari:
"#1) I like when she smacks her lips because she's hungry.
#2) I like how she crawls. It's so cute!
#3) I like how she claps her hands together.
#4) I like how she laughs when we say "achoo"
#5) I like her head. Mommy, she doesn't have any hair!"

Siblinghood

The kids were watching a movie the other day, sitting like this. I love the two of them together. They really love each other. I hope they always will...

One more look

Since I just can't get enough of my sweet girl in her Jesse costume, I decided to post a few of our Halloween pictures. We went to our church Trunk-or-Treat, which was really neat, but packed. And Zachary overheated in his costume. Seriously, he was jumping around in one of those jumpy-things and I noticed he was just standing and staring for a few seconds. He slowly got out of it and said, "I'm too hot..." so I took his costume off and his shirt underneath and let him cool off for awhile. Poor guy.
After the Trunk-or-Treat, we headed home to have a snack and reload. Then we took the kids to Trick-or-Treat in our neighborhood. They both got super excited about that and it was much cooler at that point, so Zachary was better in his costume.
Both costumes were a hit - Allie's especially. I mean, how can you resist this adorable look?:
