My Garden Grows!!

In late March, when my grandma visited, we planted a little garden. I have a pretty poor track record for anything related to Horticulture, but I wanted to give it another try (for the kid's sake, right?!). I'm excited to report that my garden is growing!!
This first set of pictures was taken the week of March 23:
Zachary LOVES to water the plants. We do this every day.
Green thumb. Brown bottom:
"Smellin' powers:"
This is what it looked like the day we planted it. We planted 2 tomato plants, 2 zucchini plants, 1 yellow squash and a row of green onions. We also planted marigold seeds all the way around the garden - I hear it helps keep the bugs out?
The following pictures are from today. It has been almost 6 weeks now!! This first picture is so funny. I didn't realize (when we initially headed outside) that Zach didn't have pants on. While we are thrilled that he is learning to dress himself, we are still fighting the daily "Zachy no wear pants!" battle. He prefers to be pant-less. Since our backyard is fairly private, I let him win this one. Like the crocs? PERFECT garden shoes for him.
Look how much everything has grown!!

And...I even have three yellow blossoms on the tomato plants. I hear that means the tomatoes will soon be here!!

National Day of Prayer

Today is the National Day of Prayer. Here is a little prayer that I love from one of Zachary's favorite books. He knows this one and will recite most of it with me. I love to hear him say, "...ever-ting I say 'n doooo..."

Heavenly Father, hear my prayer;
Keep me in Thy loving care.
Guide me through each lovely day,
In my work and in my play.
Keep me pure and sweet and true.
In everything I say and do.

Phases of Life

This week, our Sunday school lesson included reflections on conversations we (as a couple) have had since we met. The goal was to compare the depth and/or content of conversations throughout all the phases of our relationship.
I realized how deep we are into this "parenting" stage when our teacher asked, "What is different about your conversations today compared to when you were dating?" I had to laugh out loud when Todd said, "Well, our conversations include the word 'poop' a lot more than they used to!"

This week in pictures

This was the first week since Allie's birth that we didn't have something specific going on. It was such a great week!
Allie is 10 weeks old now...and so pretty!
Zachary caught a "cow-peelar" (caterpillar, in Zacharese) and built a little home for it.
Allie started pushing herself up.
Zachary is drinking out of a big-boy-cup now! He does very well!!
Allie is sitting in her "bumbo" seat.
Zachary is working on his hand-eye coordination with these lacing cards. I'm trying to convince Todd that this is NOT sewing.
...And, my proudest feat so far(...as a mother of two!) I've got both kids on the same nap schedule!! Hallelujah!!
