First Foursome

Last weekend, we ventured out to a fun little golf course to play our first-ever family foursome. It was a beautiful & memorable day!

I like this picture of Allie watching Todd's ball. She was fascinated by how far he would hit it.
Zachary learned about port-a-potties...
Allie got a little sleepy towards the end...
Overall, it was a really fun time for all of us. Both kids hit some balls, Zachary more than Allie of course. I know we'll have lots & lots of foursomes in the years to come!

Birthdays with Family

We were able to have a few other birthday celebrations with family. Last Sunday, at Aunt Shell's house, we enjoyed a nice birthday breakfast. Allie was so excited!
Aunt Shell had such a nice set up for her birthday! Allie LOVED this birthday cake.
This is the face she makes when we sing to her. She loves it!
(p.s. We pulled the same cake (half eaten) out on her birthday, 4 days later. We put 3 new candles on it and sang again!)
Allie hugged almost all her gifts. Such a sweetie!
The kids skyped with Mimi for Allie's birthday. They were still dressed in their playtime costumes for the day, so these pictures turned out cute. Allie is dressed as Buzz Lightyear. Love it!
Mimi made her a super cute homemade card using pictures of Allie. The one on the inside had Allie dressed in her Ballet costume. She loved it!
Later in the skype-with-Mimi time, Allie changed into her newest costume - Tinkerbell - which was a birthday gift from Mimi. These wings light up with blinking lights. So cute.
At lunchtime when Daddy came home to eat with us, we let Allie open her gifts from Zachary & us. Here he is showing her what is in the Tinkerbell backpack we got for her. He had a few minutes where it looked like he was having a tough time with Allie getting all the attention & gifts, but he did handle it well overall.
She's eating her birthday lunch:
We are so blessed with our sweet 3-year old. The day after her birthday, she asked me, "Mommy, am I still 2 years old?"
I said, "No, sweet girl, you're 3 years old now!"
But my heart said, "I wish you were still 2 years old."

BirthDAY

I can't even count the number of birthday celebrations we've had for Allie over the past 10 days. This particular post is documenting the actual 2-17-2011 birthday events. The next few posts will have pictures from all the other fun times we had celebrating her sweet little 3-year old self.
Her favorite food is Ravioli and the place that she'll eat the whole plate is the Olive Garden. So that's where we went for her birthday dinner.

How old are you, Allie?
Some birthday Daddy-love:
The waitress brought a cute bowl of ice cream and wrote "Happy Birthday Allie" in chocolate. The kids loved it. I snapped this picture just as that glop of ice cream landed in her lap.
This is my girl, right here. She decided the chocolate was too good to waste, so she licked it off the plate!
Some birthday brother-love:
We took her to Build-a-Bear to pick out a new stuffed animal. She chose a monkey and immediately named it "Jo-jo"...which is very cute (but also a bit mysterious)!

She's supposed to step on the lever (?) to get the stuffing moving. Daddy was helping a little!
Checking the softness/firmness:
My kids don't enjoy loud noises. After stuffing the monkey, Allie was supposed to take it to the
"dryer" to comb off all the fuzzies. She did this and had Daddy do the combing.
Look at her beautiful curls:
Happy Ending!

Whirlwind Weekend

We spent a crazy busy weekend in Florida last weekend to celebrate a lot of things, but mainly my dad's (Grandpa) 50th birthday. It was a surprise and he got to enjoy spending time with a lot of different family members. The kids were so good all weekend and they loved being a part of all the festivities! There were lots of cameras and lots of times when I didn't have my own camera, so I have a bunch of random pictures that aren't really a representative sample of the whole weekend. But it was a great time!
Here's a random elevator photo of little Allie. She's such a confident little cutie!Zachary entertained cousin Ari for quite awhile letting her chase him all over the hotel lobby. Both of them were laughing a lot! Zachary has always been so good with babies. He naturally knows how to get down on their level & play. I love that!

We enjoyed a fancy Tea Party baby shower for my sister Raschelle. It was really nice and dainty. Allie enjoyed being a part of the tea-drinking. However, the waitress felt that the tea was too hot for her and didn't pour any into Allie's tea cup. This is her response:
When we did get her a cooler cup of tea, she LOVED putting the sugar cubes in her tea cup. I'm pretty sure the tea-to-sugar ratio was definitely a bit skewed!
I love watching her be a little lady!
Towards the end of the party, she did get a little sleepy. Here's us with Grammy Claire (Allie's great grandma!). Such a nice day together!

Happy Birthday!

Today is Allie's 3rd birthday! I can't believe it. I am so thankful for my sweet girl. She is so much fun and adds such excitement to our family. She is affectionate, funny, vibrant and expressive. What a huge blessing to all of us! I love you sweet girl! Happy Birthday!

Valentine's Day 2011

We have been super busy lately! There are so many things going on and I'm trying to keep on top of them all with the blog. For those of you who may not know me, I don't scrapbook or keep any kind of albums. The blog is my only record of my kids' lives. Anyway, my blog posts are bumping up against each other!
Last weekend, in preparation for Valentine's Day, we made valentines for school and we made some festive cookies. We had a huge weekend this past weekend (blog posts soon!), so I knew we'd need to get all the V-day stuff done in advance.

The kids picked out their own designs for the cards they'd give their friends. I loved how much thought they put into each card. Zachary wanted to do jungle animals and Allie chose My Little Pony.

This one made me laugh. He signed each card with his name. However, for this particular friend, he wanted to put "THE Zachary 4" (he told me the 4 is for his age).
And, of course, he made a Valentime (that's how they both say it) for Panda & Seal. He is so thoughtful!
Here's the final stash. Each "Valentime" has a lollipop attached.
Here's our cookie work:
I let the kids make their own icing and ice their own cookies. They were surprisingly very patient and took their time spreading the icing all over.
Then, of course, we ate a few cookies:
Aren't they pretty?!:

Little Angel

The other day I heard the kids having a cute conversation about Grandpa. They were discussing what Grandpa calls them.

Zachary: "Allie, grandpa calls you his angel."

Allie: "Yes, I his angel."

Zachary: "But sometimes he calls you midget face."

Allie: "Yea, I no like midget face. I like angel."
Ha!!

She definitely looks like an angel in these sleepy pictures:
